Choose a proper domain

Before we start, I think I should say something. All the SEO tips posts from SEO weeks series is my own posts. I write down with my real experiences in SEO aspect. I have been researching many SEO recourses, websites, blogs… and learning from friends, colleagues. These articles come from my heart and are my properties, not others’. Feel free to read and leave me comment; I really appreciate.

Ok, now let me start to write the first thread in SEO weeks series. From now on I’ll consider you as a newbie in SEO aspect, ok? You’re so eager to learn my SEO tips? Take it easy, my friends. First I want to remind you that our motto is “Let Google adopts your children!”. Please always keep it in your mind; you will have motivation to go on a long road with me! :)

It’s time for us to build our own site. Ok, let’s think about what stuffs you’re interested in. Making a list of things you like, you have experience on and are passionate about. They could be hand phones, cars, flowers, motorbikes, souvenirs….Think very carefully about the list and choose one of them as the main topic of your future website. According to my experience, it’s so hard to sell something that you know nothing about and have no experience in. You also should go to Google Trends to compare your list. This will tell you what people prefer. Ok, I choose “cars” is our main topic of website :) it’s good, nobody oppose!



Second step is choosing a proper domain. “Proper” means a domain has fully meaning and is friendly with users. Your domain must easy to read and remember. I prefer .com to other extensions. Try to make a list of domains you want, think about joining the main word “cars” with every word concerned with it. For example: hotcars.com, modelcars.com, supercars.com, ilovecars.com…. Then go to Who Is to check which domain is available. If you can find one, don’t hesitate to register immediately through GoDaddy, Yahoo or other domain suppliers.

That’s it! We have a nice domain now. We will make a nice website for it tomorrow and apply many SEO tips also!

Slight Touch Up with Google Analytics

This morning, when I logged in my Google Analytics to check data as usually, I was a little surprised with the new layout with GA. They called that as "a little polish in GA report interface". I really like it. I always have good impressions of web applications with nice layouts like Apple, The FWA or MSC Studio...Nice, clean, model designs always give me an endless inspiration. 

Back to the new layout of GA, they made it clearer because of color consistency. They also added some contrast between sections in dashboard. Now you can distinguish the left column and right column easily. The upper left menu area is outstanding with white background. In my opinions, the important areas now stick out a little bit and the colors give your eyes a comfortable feeling. Check it out and tell me what you think about it!

SEO, what the hell are you?

Search engine optimization is also known as SEO. This is the process of improving the amount of traffic and this quality traffic comes from search engines using algorithmic search results for keywords. Not say that you don't know any search engines nowadays. If you say that, I’ll believe that you’re living in the forest and reading my article which comes from the sky haha..just kidding man. Of course, Google is the most famous search engine these days, and then are Live, Yahoo, AOL...and many more.

Doing SEO is not hard, but it’s also a long-term process. You cannot see any results after doing SEO just couple of days. You have to make many things, from making a friendly website to search engines to writing content which considered as relevant and compelling content for both users and spiders. Trust me! Even though SEO is the new aspect in Vietnam but Everybody can do SEO. You will find many SEO tips at SEOGirlVN blog. Don’t worry; I’ll guide you step by step. Doing SEO is my current job. I’m now working with Zing products like News, Forum, Mp3…and some game websites. I'm not pround of my SEO experiences but I'm surely that I can give you the most basic of SEO knowledge ever!

According to me, these are my requirements for SEO job:

- Patient, smart, self-taught

- Ability to work with newest technology of search engines.

- Love searching and testing: design, web structure, web languages (HTML, PHP, ASP.NET, Javascript, Ajax…)

- Familiar with Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tool, Sitemap Protocol

- Love reading

- Communication skill, have sense of humor, hard-working and easygoing.

- Love sports or other outdoor activities like Photography (like me lah)
